The Scene of the Crime Scene Cleanup

Friday, July 16th, 2010

To her amazement, her apartment looked cleaner than it had in months. In fact, it had not looked this clean when she moved in or, for that matter, after any of her regular cleaning lady’s weekly trips to her apartment. The reason she noted this was that, while she was off on business, a burglar had broken in to an apartment below hers. When one of the neighbors called the police, the perpetrator fled by climbing up the external fire escape to her apartment where he broke in through her window. The police followed him into her apartment, breaking down the door, and firing three shots at the burglar. Two of the shots hit him causing him to bleed profusely on her immaculate hard wood floors.

After the police arrested the man and collected evidence, they contacted the building management which put in an order to get the door fixed. They also contacted a crime scene cleaner company. This crime scene cleanup company, with its experience in homicide scenes, death scenes, trauma scenes and accident scenes, knew exactly what types of cleaning solutions were necessary to clean blood from the floors, one of the big selling points she was looking at when she rented the place. They also cleaned out all of the debris and glass near the window and removed all of the tissue separated from the burglar when he was shot. Then the crime scene clean up company completely sanitized the entire apartment from the cross contamination caused by police and medical personnel.

When she got back to the apartment she expected to have a weird feeling about the fact that a man had been shot there. But the thoroughness of the job done by the crime scene cleaners made it difficult, if not impossible to feel that way.

Crime Scene Cleanup — TV vs Reality

Friday, May 28th, 2010

Crime scene cleaner companies may not fulfill their duties with the kind of technology seen on CSI- Miami or with a cast of such glamorous stars frequently issuing witty lines to describe their investigation, but they do rely on the latest or most advanced cleaning products and they do have to utilize some technology to achieve their goals. Crime scene cleaner companies will often conduct suicide scene clean ups, accident scene clean ups, meth lab clean ups, odor removal clean ups and other death scene clean ups in addition to blood scene clean ups. In each of these an expertise related to identifying and removing certain chemical hazards is required. Also the further task of decontamination is necessary to complete the job.

This means the best types of products must be used as solvents and cleaning agents. A comprehension of a building’s infrastructure is often necessary as well. Certain monitoring devices have to be wielded to detect the spread of infectious diseases when it comes to mrsa blood infection clean ups or staph infection clean ups, another part of the crime scene cleaner companies’ repertoire.

Now every once in a while a member of the crime scene cleaner companies’ staff will have the opportunity to discover a certain fact or piece of evidence that a detective on the case may find useful or even vital to a particular criminal case. As this doesn’t happen very often, and as that is just a subsidiary product of their job, we don’t expect the networks to pitch a new pilot TV show that puts crime scene cleaner companies at the center. But we do expect that as time passes these companies will continue to rely on the latest materials and machinery to get the job done.

Biohazard Cleanup A Modern Component Of Emergency Response

Friday, May 7th, 2010

Once the province of science fiction movies, bio hazard cleanup companies now have become an important part of our country’s landscape and it is anticipated that they will continue to play a significant role in helping society maintain a safe environment that does not pose high risks to our health. The need for these bio hazard cleaning companies derives from the multiplicity of companies that rely on or manufacture complex chemicals either for scientific or industrial purposes. Bio hazard clean up companies also secured a niche in our emergency response efforts or homeland security system. First of all, there is an obvious need for a bio hazard cleanup company to be a first responder in any situation where it is believed that a biological weapon or virus has been deployed. The imperative that a bio hazard be neutralized may be no less important than defusing a ticking, conventional bomb.

Then there is also the need, should any such biological hazard be neutralized to make sure any and remnants of the hazard are identified, monitored and destroyed. To the extent that a virus is exposed to the greater public, either by accident or intentionally, the bio hazard cleaners must go beyond extinguishing the obvious manifestations of a virus. A stringent monitoring of any vicinity, within a certain radius dependent upon the nature of the targeted virus, is warranted to ensure that a contagious virus does not spread.

If a risk that a virus may have spread unabated, a good bio hazard cleaning company will advise people who may have occupied a particular area within range of a hazard or virus, to see a doctor or appropriate medical authorities.

If it can be satisfactorily confirmed that a hazard has been neutralized before it causes any harm, the ultimate targets of any terrorist attack, the public at large will be relieved from the very terror the terrorists wish to spread. The bio hazard cleanup companies hence can solve a practical problem, the extinguishment of a biological hazard. They can also be part of that homeland security designed to keep the populace at peace.

Hopefully you’ll never have reason to see these folks dressed in blue, protective suits with masks in your neck of the woods. But in today’s day and age, it won’t be just in the movies.

Perfect Wedding Does Not Include Corpse

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

The wedding of Susan Claire Buckingham to Charles Emerson Stewart was scheduled to take place Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. in Rye, New York. Family photographs were to be taken at 6:30 before the wedding out by the gazebo which overlooked the Hudson River. On Friday night on the bank of the opposite side of the river, two unidentified men deposited the corpse of a man who had been shot twice once in the head and the other right below the heart. On Saturday morning when the custodian of the lodge where the wedding was to take place went out to the gazebo he found the body of the deceased. Then he called the police and got them out there. They began the investigation and processed the crime scene. When the director of the lodge asked the police if they had removed all of the residue from the corpse still at the bank of the river, the detective told him that was not his job. With the family of the bride expected in just a few hours, the chance that members of the wedding party would saunter down to the bank of the Hudson pretty high and his guarantee that all would be picture perfect, the director started to get really anxious.

Fortunately, the detective gave him the name of a homicide scene cleaning company. This death scene cleanup company that conducts crime scene cleanups, suicide scene cleanups, meth lab cleanups, odor removal cleanupsdeath scene cleanups in addition to blood scene cleanups sprang in to action. Arriving by 1:00 p.m. they assessed the condition of the area where the corpse had been found, removed all blood stains, some decomposed tissue and began to use various chemicals to ensure total decontamination of the area. By 4:00 p.m. they concluded that all remnants of the corpse had been duly disposed. The supervisor of the homicide scene cleanup accurately certified that the scene was safe, free from toxic residue and remaining odor and that the place was safe for the wedding.

Later as the director peered out at the gazebo while Mr. Stewart and Miss Buckingham and their respective families stood around the gazebo as the photographer directed their stances and positions, he smiled with great relief. Thanks to the thorough and professional efforts of the death scene cleaning company, his problem was averted and the bride and groom’s special day could go off without a hitch.
