Insurance Coverage And Responsible Scene Clean Up

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Dealing with insurance companies rates right behind going to the dentist or the proctologist as one of the least attractive endeavors that people must occasionally undertake. The difficulties of working with insurance companies stem both from trying to get and retain coverage for a particular purpose and getting an insurance company to properly and fairly pay a claim once an event happens that triggers coverage.

For property owners, and particularly commercial property landlords, one area that should be of concern is if a crime or other traumatic incident occurs on your property. If you fail to adequately clean and sanitize your property after a crime is committed there and you leave the possibility that an unsafe or unsanitary condition exists you could face two distinct problems: (1) an increase your property insurance premiums or (2) a denial of some future claim that may arise (even if the insurance company’s position is unreasonable).

To ward against such a problem it is advisable that, if you own property upon which an accident, bio hazard or crime is committed, you should hire a professional scene cleaning company. Frequently companies that do perform crime scene cleaning also perform infectious disease cleaning, homicide scene cleaning, accident scene cleaning, suicide scene cleaning, death scene cleaning, blood scene cleaning and meth lab site cleaning so you can enlist someone who has experience dealing with problems that have both environmental (or sanitary) and legal components to them.

If you hire such a crime scene cleaner or bio hazard cleaner then you can submit proof of the completion of their work to show that any toxic or hazardous residue from an incident has been removed and that the premises are safe for habitation. This will undercut any argument that an insurance company may try to use to raise your premiums or deny any future claims.

Suicide Scene Cleanup Company Spares Family Distress

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

Nobody had really seen it coming. The bright-eyed boy, who was successful in sports, liked by his peers, and near the top of his class in school seemed to have everything going for him. It was only after they found the note he left that they figured it out. He had recently caught his girlfriend of four years, a woman he intended to marry, with another man. When he discovered them together he swiftly told her he never wanted to see her again and that he would leave her belongings in boxes outside his apartment. For a week he ignored her repeated calls. He then sent her a letter reiterating that it was over and asking her not to ever call him again. As he had not evidenced any emotion, she never thought he might take any drastic action.

They found him the day after he sent her the letter. He had used his hunting rifle to do the sad deed.  He had committed suicide. The landlord was spooked about it. The police gave him the name and number of a suicide clean up company. This company also specialized in accident scene cleanups, crime scene cleanups, homicide scene cleanups, blood scene cleanups, meth lab cleanups, odor removal cleanups and death scene cleanups were well equipped to handle the remains. They removed all of his remaining cartilage and tissue and soaked up the blood with a specialized product. Then they cleaned the entire apartment and disinfected it again to verify there was no biohazardous organic material left.

Thanks to the good work of the suicide scene cleaners when his parents visited the apartment on the next day, there were spared the horror of seeing the way the apartment had looked just sixteen hours earlier. They refused to visit his ex-girlfriend as that was just too painful for them. They did embrace at the funeral but that was the end of it.

Crime Scene Cleanup at Nightclub Shooting

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

In the alley behind the nightclub a stretch Hummer pulled up. One of the back passenger windows was rolled down. A few words, inaudible to all but the two young guys having the conversation, were exchanged. One of the passengers exited with a briefcase in hand. As he walked towards the nightclub, the man who had been chatting with him from outside the limo sent a text message to someone on his cell phone. Just moments later, two men, hiding behind barriers (a dipsey dumpster and a storage shed) fired a flurry of shots at the man with the briefcase who went down. The Hummer backed up and the windows lowered just enough to allow the barrels of two weapons to emerge. A firefight ensued. Within less than twenty seconds four people were shot dead and a briefcase that had been full of currency was breached and money was fluttering around the parking lot much of it stained red with blood.

In less than a minute the first police unit arrived and within two there were about six police vehicles with no less than nine officers on scene. A detective was dispatched to the location and a crime scene processing team was also requested. Several men were held for questioning. The area was processed and a crime scene cleaning company was called in to clean up the vicinity.

By the time the crime scene cleaners arrived, all the money had been collected and placed in evidence. Still there was blood everywhere not to mention shards of eviscerated flesh. With experience in murder scene cleanings, crime scene cleanings, homicide scene cleanings, suicide scene cleanings, blood scene cleanings, staph infection cleanings and mrsa infection cleanings, they had plenty of exposure to blood cleanup and human tragedies. Rarely though did they see a scene so brutally overwhelmed by carnage. As the crime occurred in a popular upscale party district of the city, it was imperative that the crime scene clean up company work diligently to complete their task so “business as usual” could commence as soon as possible in the area.

As the sun rose over the metropolitan area and this part of town, the homicide scene clean up company scoured the parking lot doing a thorough blood cleanup. While the homicide scene cleaning company finished their job by 8:30 a.m., the police detective knew from the conflicting accounts, his task of figuring what had transpired was going to take much longer.

ABT Scene Cleanup Work

Compiled from Facebook

Pennsylvania – Unattended death in Bethlehem PA. When a parent passes on and they live in a rental things can get tricky. First you need to look at the contractual obligations of the tenant. It may say only “unintentional” damage must be paid for by the tenant. If so, the remaining family does not have to pay for the cleanup. Refer the apt mgr to us.

Maryland – Unattended death in Baltimore MD. Gentleman passed in a row house.

Maryland - Today we responded to an unattended death scene in Randallstown MD where a previous company had removed carpet and padding, some sheetrock and used primer to cover blood on a sub floor. They left furniture and other items that had been affected by bodily fluids. They were supposed to make the scene safe for family to remove personal effects.

Biohazard Question – I got an email today wondering if, because someone urinated in his yard, should he have the yard treated for biohazards. Truthfully, I was a bit stumped. People and animals urinate outside all the time. Although cautious is good, let’s not be hypersensitive to possible disease. It takes the fun out of life. icon smile ABT Scene Cleanup Work

Suicide Scene Cleanup: Speeding The Healing

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

Suicide cleaner companies frequently address some of the most difficult and emotionally strenuous situations when performing their assigned jobs. Often when an individual commits suicide someone plays the role of liaison from the family to those officials who have to respond to the tragedy. Once someone from the family contacts a suicide cleaner company the person managing the cleanup can act as an agent dealing with the police, the landlord (if applicable), other people who had relationships with the deceased. What often happens is that, in the course of planning to clean and then decontaminate a space in which a suicide has occurred, the supervisor of the cleanup must act with the kind of extreme care and deference that other types of professionals, like clergymen and doctors, exercise regularly. Accordingly, the expertise of these companies transcends the physical duties involved in a suicide cleanup.

Since many suicide scene cleaner companies also engage in homicide scene cleanings, blood scene cleanings, trauma scene cleanings and accident scene cleanings, its staff is usually trained, not unlike a staff of a funeral home or mortuary, to go about their business with the utmost sensitivity to the feelings and needs of the deceased’s family, loved ones and friends. This kind of sensitivity to the emotions of those grieving complements the sensitivity the employees of these suicide cleaner companies have with regard to their cleaning tasks. The success of an exemplary suicide scene cleaner company is to not only dispose of that which is easily seen but also to determine where other tissue or liquid is located so as to dispose of all potentially hazard materials. This attention to detail in these tasks reinforces a sense of being careful in every aspect of the job.

No one ever anticipates having to deal with the sadness of suicide. The more that family members, roommates, landlords or lovers can be helped during this difficult period of extreme sorrow, the better. The onus must fall on those people who do not share the personal relationship and experience with the decedent. The staff of a professional suicide scene cleaner company amply and consistently meets this challenge.
