Urine, Feces & Odor Removal Cleanup

I get calls every day where someone can’t eliminate a pet urine odor. There are a couple of reasons for pet urine odors are so difficult, so let me begin by giving you a couple of the most common issues with odor removal. These days, everyone wants a quick fix.  I mean — heck we landed on the moon — give me a chemical to spray on this urine that will eliminate the odor.  Sorry folks. That’s not gonna happen.

Pet urine contains salt.  Those salts hold odor creating odor removal problems.  When those salts are dry, no odor. When they are moist, even from humidity, they create a pet odor problem.  (more…)

Discovery of Decomposed Corpse Requires Professional Death Odor Cleanup

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

The back buildings of the old manufacturing plant covering parts of both Smyrna and Marietta had not been inspected for over fifteen years at least. The land developer considering the purchase of the large parcel sent some real estate appraisers out to the mammoth site to review the plot and give their opinions as to its possible worth. They contacted an agent for the old company to help them access the property and the agent sent a custodian with them for assistance.

When they reached one of the back buildings that had not been used by the company for many years before they had even closed their operations, the custodian found the correct key to open the door to one of these storage facilities. By the time he managed to pry the door open he and the appraisers almost fell on their respective behinds because the smell was so putrid. Within a minute or so they discovered a decomposed corpse which must have been there for some time.

The people who were successors to that company concerned about the need to sell that property, or at least certain parts of it, contacted the police to have a report done to identify the body. They also enlisted the services of a death odor removal company to get rid of the horrible stench left by the corpse and take additional measures to sanitize that facility. They also checked other buildings to see if the death odor removal company could aid them in remediating any other parts of the property. The certificate given to them by the death odor removal outfit after the completion of their death odor removal work was an important document that this property owner could use to show any prospective buyers so they wouldn’t have to worry about any dangerous conditions if they bought the parcel.

Death Odor Cleanup Vital For Crime Scenes

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

Many crimes, particularly those involving homicides, leave public spaces, private residences and commercial businesses subject to the development of putrid and offensive odors. Accordingly, the retention of professional odor removal companies to alleviate the stench of these odors is suggested as a way to address this problem.

Many of these crime scene odor removal companies also perform suicide scene clean ups, accident scene clean ups, meth lab clean ups, odor removal clean ups and other death scene clean ups in addition to blood scene clean ups. In Georgia cities such as Atlanta, Sandy Springs, Marietta, Smyrna and John’s Creek frequently enlist the support of crime scene odor removal companies.

The offensive stench is not the only rationale for using such crime scene odor removal services. Other health and safety considerations warrant their utilization. These crime scene odor removal crews understand how to disinfect and sanitize crime scenes. So it is not merely for aesthetic purposes but also medical ones that crime scene odor removal companies should be used.

Make sure to verifiy that the company you chose truly is an odor professional.  A company should be an IICRC odor certified firm.  Also, make sure that they are using odor molecular modifiers not masking agents.  That way you know they have the proper education and experience to solve your problem.

Suicide Cleanup Requires Sensitivity and Compassion

Thursday, March 10th, 2011

The suicide clean up crew arrived in John’s Creek less than two hours after the tragic incident. The local police recommended to the family’s close friend who was acting as a liaison to the authorities that a suicide clean up company could restore the room in which he killed himself into looking like it did previously. The suicide clean up company’s employees possessing expertise in sanitizing affected areas would not only remove hazardous, organic material but also take additional remediation efforts to ensure no toxins migrated to any other locations within the residence.

As they also performed murder scene cleanings, unattended death scene cleanings, homicide scene cleanings, blood scene cleanings, staph infection cleanings, mrsa infection cleanings, meth lab cleanings and bio hazard cleanings, the suicide cleanup company was accustomed to working with law enforcement and health authorities. The employees of the suicide clean up company were able to respond quickly and quietly.

The suicide cleanup company’s experience in this regard also gave them the sensitivity to deal with the loved ones of the deceased and act with the appropriate concern for the affected residence’s occupants. When all was said and done, the suicide clean up company had done its job so well that the family barely noticed their presence and certainly never had to worry about any medical consequences that could have arisen had the suicide clean up either not taken place or not done properly.

The Importance of Proper Suicide Scene Remediation

Sunday, February 13th, 2011

Any landlord, business owner or operator of a public facility should exercise wise discretion in responding to an incident where a tenant, employee or any individual takes the tragic step of ending their own life on his or her property. It is highly recommended that one retain a suicide clean up company for the purposes of environmental reclamation.  Chosing one with proper experience will allow them to guide you through the myriad of difficulties you are about to encounter with mourners, co-workers, roommates, friends and acquaintances of the deceased.

A recent case in Marietta underscores the multiple roles of a professional suicide clean up company. A father of a soon-to-graduate from high school had been barred from visitation with his younger child (and daughter) that was only twelve years old. The grief and melancholy that engulfed the man pushed him to consider options he previously would have spurned out of hand. Just one week before his son’s scheduled graduation, he went to his place of employment, locked himself in a supply room and shot himself with a shotgun.

The suicide clean up company met several roles in their response. They advised the company on how to handle their communications and OSHA responsibilities with their employees.  They could advise when the affected site could be safely reopened.  They assisted the company with moving operations to a new area.  They worked with the local coroner’s office concerning removal of the corpse from the premises.  They identified what parts of his remains and what other substances affected by the shotgun blast needed removal.  They advised the grieving widow of their intention to handle the disposition of his remains fully and the lack of necessity, on her part, to worry about that matter. Utilizing the expertise they have gained from conducting homicide scene cleanings, death scene cleanings, trauma scene cleanings and accident scene cleanings, they completely remediated the affected area removing blood droplets and organic tissue as well as other chemicals disbursed by the gunfire.  They applied the most advanced cleaning solutions and checked the ventilation system to ensure that no hazardous particulates might have ventured in to other parts of the facility.  More importantly, they removed the need for the grieving family to have to worry about this aspect of the tragedy, granting them an opportunity to try to appreciate the son’s graduation.
