Insurance Coverage And Responsible Scene Clean Up

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Dealing with insurance companies rates right behind going to the dentist or the proctologist as one of the least attractive endeavors that people must occasionally undertake. The difficulties of working with insurance companies stem both from trying to get and retain coverage for a particular purpose and getting an insurance company to properly and fairly pay a claim once an event happens that triggers coverage.

For property owners, and particularly commercial property landlords, one area that should be of concern is if a crime or other traumatic incident occurs on your property. If you fail to adequately clean and sanitize your property after a crime is committed there and you leave the possibility that an unsafe or unsanitary condition exists you could face two distinct problems: (1) an increase your property insurance premiums or (2) a denial of some future claim that may arise (even if the insurance company’s position is unreasonable).

To ward against such a problem it is advisable that, if you own property upon which an accident, bio hazard or crime is committed, you should hire a professional scene cleaning company. Frequently companies that do perform crime scene cleaning also perform infectious disease cleaning, homicide scene cleaning, accident scene cleaning, suicide scene cleaning, death scene cleaning, blood scene cleaning and meth lab site cleaning so you can enlist someone who has experience dealing with problems that have both environmental (or sanitary) and legal components to them.

If you hire such a crime scene cleaner or bio hazard cleaner then you can submit proof of the completion of their work to show that any toxic or hazardous residue from an incident has been removed and that the premises are safe for habitation. This will undercut any argument that an insurance company may try to use to raise your premiums or deny any future claims.

Drunk Driving At Ballpark Causes Accident Scene Cleanup

Friday, August 6th, 2010

Jud and his buddies got to the ballpark about an hour before game time. More than enough time to kick back a few cold beverages while tailgating. Once they got in the game they managed to imbibe at least 3 more 24 oz. beers before they quit selling in the seventh inning. As they were leaving the stadium on the way out, Jud was attempting to take a left turn without the arrow and failed to see another car that had the right of way. The ensuing collision caused various injuries and the loss of blood to one passenger who was dislodged from Jud’s convertible as he failed to have on his seat belt. There were police nearby so their response was quick but the accident worsened an already tight traffic situation among people leaving the stadium after the game.

The police charged Jud with Driving Under The Influence after they gave him field sobriety tests by the side of the road and tested his breath for alcohol content. They also cited him with Failure To Yield. Since his friends were either injured or drunk (or both), no one could drive the car home. They obtained a tow company to take the damaged car away. They also got an accident clean up company to come to this part of the parking lot where blood and debris were located. This accident scene cleanup company had experience in blood scene clean ups, homicide scene clean ups, suicide scene clean ups, meth lab clean ups, odor removal clean ups and death scene clean ups not to mention staph infection scene clean ups so they knew what they were doing.

Jud spent the night in jail and one of his friends had to make a stop at the emergency room. They all were brutally hung over the next day. They all felt the physical and mental toll of their activities from the night before. But the people who arrived at the ballpark on the next day and parked in the lot near the site of the accident saw no hangover from the previous night. The accident scene cleanup company had performed much better than Jud had driven. Hopefully the attendants of the afternoon game would not be replicating Jud’s efforts and give reason for the accident scene clean up company to get additional business at or around the park.

Crime Scene Cleanup — TV vs Reality

Friday, May 28th, 2010

Crime scene cleaner companies may not fulfill their duties with the kind of technology seen on CSI- Miami or with a cast of such glamorous stars frequently issuing witty lines to describe their investigation, but they do rely on the latest or most advanced cleaning products and they do have to utilize some technology to achieve their goals. Crime scene cleaner companies will often conduct suicide scene clean ups, accident scene clean ups, meth lab clean ups, odor removal clean ups and other death scene clean ups in addition to blood scene clean ups. In each of these an expertise related to identifying and removing certain chemical hazards is required. Also the further task of decontamination is necessary to complete the job.

This means the best types of products must be used as solvents and cleaning agents. A comprehension of a building’s infrastructure is often necessary as well. Certain monitoring devices have to be wielded to detect the spread of infectious diseases when it comes to mrsa blood infection clean ups or staph infection clean ups, another part of the crime scene cleaner companies’ repertoire.

Now every once in a while a member of the crime scene cleaner companies’ staff will have the opportunity to discover a certain fact or piece of evidence that a detective on the case may find useful or even vital to a particular criminal case. As this doesn’t happen very often, and as that is just a subsidiary product of their job, we don’t expect the networks to pitch a new pilot TV show that puts crime scene cleaner companies at the center. But we do expect that as time passes these companies will continue to rely on the latest materials and machinery to get the job done.

Crime Scene Clean Up: Objective – Remediation

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Crime scene cleaner companies operate on the principle that the physical products of a crime, whether visible or not, should be disposed of quickly but not too hastily to suggest carelessness or leave a worse problem. Site remediation work is the process of returning a trauma site to its original clean state. Professional scene cleanup companies focus on the removal of these dangerous products of a crime both to ameliorate health problems and to ease potential psychological effects. Scene cleanup companies perform homicide scene clean ups, suicide clean ups, blood scene clean ups, accident scene clean ups, meth lab clean ups, staph infection clean ups, mrsa infection clean ups and odor clean ups.

In each and every instance, the objective is complete site remediation. Crime scene cleaner companies focus on the resolution of a physical problem to solve what is also a psychological issue: the impact the observable evidence of a crime has on a neighborhood, home owner, apartment landlord or tenant, a community or a city. These companies approach the crime scene clean up in all of its above-mentioned types by professionally addressing actual physical problems: smells, stains, blood, infections, toxins, hazardous chemicals. By succeeding in this approach the crime scene cleaning companies bring, not only a healthy environment for people to enjoy and thrive in, but also the peace of mind that comes with not being faced over and over with the physical reminders of the crime committed.

Landlord Faces Suicide Cleanup

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Prior to March 1st John Stephens, a landlord of a multi-unit apartment complex receives a notice from one of his tenants, named Robert, that Robert wishes to exercise his option to terminate the lease at the end of his lease term on March 31. As thirty-day notice is all that is required under the provisions of the lease, Robert satisfies the requisite notice requirement. Expecting him to move out as indicated, Stephens places ads for the upcoming vacancy and interviews several prospective tenants. After a series of interviews and chances to show the apartment, one of the applicants comes in and signs a lease and plans to move in by April the 5th. Stephens contacts Robert and says that he needs to do a walkthrough before the 31st to see if any of the apartment was damaged and then determine how much of the security deposit should be returned to Robert, if any.

When Stephens does not hear back from Robert by the 29th of March, he goes over and knocks on Robert’s door but gets no answer. He returns to his office and calls Robert but no one picks up. He notices Robert’s car is in the parking lot. Finally on the 31st getting nervous that he has insufficient time to get the unit ready for the incoming tenant, he gets the custodian to unlock the door. Before the door is even completely opened, Stephens can tell that an acrid smell permeates the air. When he walks in, he sees blood everywhere and a severely mutilated corpse. Lying beside the corpse is a shotgun. Robert has apparently committed suicide.

Stephens feels sick as does his custodian. After calling the police, he wonders how he is going to get the unit ready for the new tenant coming in on the 5th. That’s when he decides to contact a suicide scene cleaner company. This company which also does accident scene cleanups, crime scene cleanups, homicide scene cleanups, meth lab cleanups, odor removal cleanups and other death scene cleanups is at the unit later that day. They assess the damage, consult with police, begin disposing of loose tissue and scouring the flooring, carpet and drapes to eliminate all the blood and then use additional solvents to sanitize the apartment. Finally they use some sprays and chemicals to remove the odor completely. By the end of the day, Stephens can worry about removing the furniture and other personal property of the deceased. Before the 5th, the apartment is ready for the new tenants. Stephens feels horrible about the incident but is thankful that he had the option of bringing in the suicide scene cleaner company.

The Gritty Reality of Homicide Cleanup

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

The last thing anyone wants to have to contemplate is the need to retain a homicide scene cleanup company. However, if a tragic death occurs at your business or home, you should recognize that law enforcement will probably only process the scene to the extent necessary to obtain and safeguard evidence. If a murder or accidental death has taken place on your property, it will be your responsibility to secure the services of a homicide scene cleaner company or death scene cleaner company.

The homicide scene cleaner company will most likely come in, consult with the police to identify what they have permission to remove. Then they will dispose of all materials that have no evidential value to the police investigation. Subsequently, they will safeguard any precious items belonging to the deceased or family of the deceased. Then they will subject the vicinity to a complete and thorough cleaning. Depending on the length of time a corpse has undergone decomposition, the homicide scene clean up company may also remove flooring, drapes, parts of walls or grout if there is a chance of this type of biohazard decontamination.

Finally, the homicide scene cleaning company will advise the property owner what, if anything else, should be done to secure the premises. At this point the property owner will have taken the crucial step of making his property safe for continued occupancy. This should, at least, in the face of such a tragedy, provide some measure of relief. Furthermore, it could satisfy an insurance company that tends to view these episodes in a more detached, cold fashion.

The Experience Is Necessary

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

A family of four is spending a comfortable Sunday afternoon strolling down the sidewalk in their neighborhood walking to a nearby park. A negligent driver, drunk from the several alcoholic beverages he consumed, cruises down the road at speeds in excess of fifteen miles per hour over the stated limit. As it goes past one intersection another car pulls out. In a feeble effort to avoid the other car, the intoxicated driver swerves, goes up on to the sidewalk and hits the entire family and a utility pole. The entire family is killed and the driver is severely injured, bleeding profusely and suffering from many broken bones.

Within minutes the city police arrive at the scene. They immediately call an ambulance for the driver who will be held in custody once at the hospital. They then call an accident scene cleaner company. With expertise in suicide scene cleanups, meth lab cleanups, odor removal cleanups and other death scene cleanups in addition to blood scene cleanups, this company wields the experience necessary to handle the job. In this particular case, both the mother and father were widely known in the neighborhood. Each in their own right was esteemed within their professional circles and within the community. The trauma among those in the area is expected to be significant.

By jumping into quick, but not reckless, action, the accident scene cleaners are able to restore the sight to its previous beauty. By the next morning, several mourners and others who wish to pay their respects by placing flowers and notes of affection about those who lost their lives. Had the accident scene cleaning company not done their job with such esprit, this fitting, if sad, memorial would not have been able to take place.
